Lira Medical Centre (LMC) was opened in September 2005 before registering as a Non- Governmental Organization Hospital, under NGO STATUTE 1989, on 20/01/2006. Registration Number 5700/ S.5914/6222.
The primary objective of starting this hospital was to supplement Uganda Government efforts by offering more quality but affordable health care services to the people in the war ravaged areas of Northern Uganda.
The whole world knows how much the people of Northern Uganda suffered atrocities caused by the so-called Lords Resistance Army of Joseph Kony.
The nearest referral hospital is 150 Miles from Lira LIRA MEDICAL CENTRE is designed to make a referral centre for other health facilities within the catchment Northern Districts of Apac, Oyam, Kaberamaido, Dokolo, Amolatar, Kotido, Abim, Kitgum and Pader.
The civil wars have left the peoples of Northern Uganda in abject poverty which means they can not afford to pay for their health care. LMC has therefore got to depend a lot on charitable donations of drugs and other logistics, in order to offer free health services to these vulnerable people. We therefore openly make this appeal to anyone who cares.
